Hunter Hood, MD
Dr. Hunter Hood is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in hip and knee reconstructive surgery. He specializes in operative and non-operative treatment of hip and knee conditions including arthritis, dysplasia, osteonecrosis, joint instability, failed joint replacement surgery, and fractures. Dr. Hood is experienced in modern surgical techniques including minimally invasive and muscle-sparing joint replacement, robotic-assisted joint replacement, hip preservation, hip resurfacing, and revision reconstruction of previously failed hip and knee replacements. He strives to provide patients with an individualized experience via thorough evaluation and management of their orthopaedic care with the goal of optimizing long term function and relieving joint pain.
Dr. Hood completed his bachelor and medical degrees at the University of Mississippi followed by Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Tulane University. He then completed subspecialty training at the esteemed Hip and Knee Preservation, Resurfacing, and Replacement Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Hood joins Tulane Orthopaedics after previously serving as Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. He is an active member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). Dr. Hood returns to New Orleans with his wife (Elizabeth) and border collie (Sneaker), both native New Orleanians.
