Hilda Kriel, MD
Dr. Hilda Kriel is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and fellowship-trained pediatric orthopaedic surgeon. She specializes in the treatment of a wide range of pediatric musculoskeletal conditions, including fractures and trauma, developmental hip dysplasia, neuromuscular disorders such as cerebral palsy and arthrogryposis, patellofemoral instability, foot and ankle deformity, and complex orthopaedic conditions associated with genetic syndromes. She offers individualized, evidence-based treatment for her patients and is committed to advancing pediatric orthopaedic care through innovation.
Hilda Kriel is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. She completed medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Following medical school, Dr. Kriel completed an Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch, during which she was selected for an AO Trauma Fellowship in Cape Town, South Africa. She then completed a Pediatric Orthopaedic Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. After that she was in Temple, TX and served a division director of pediatric orthopedics.
Dr. Kriel is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Tulane University and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and a member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) and the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society.
She sees patients in New Orleans, Metairie and Lafayette. Outside of medicine, Dr. Kriel enjoys live music, dining out, and traveling. She lives in New Orleans with her maltipoo, Milkshake, who is known for being festively dyed for occasions like Mardi Gras and Halloween.
