Tulane Match Day Results 2022
Tulane University School of Medicine held a Match Day ceremony on March 18th. Residency Program Director, Dr. Michael O’Brien, said, “We are excited to welcome our new orthopaedic surgery interns to join us in the upcoming 2022-23 academic year: Akshar Patel, Andre Perez-Chaumont, Tara Reza and Austin Ross. We matched four students this year, after the ACGME granted our request to increase our resident complement to 20 residents. We plan to implement this increase incrementally, adding one additional resident to the PGY-1 class each year moving forward.”
Dr. Akshar Patel was born in London but moved to Sugar Land, TX when he was four. He earned his B.S. in Biology from The University of Scranton, where his minors were Philosophy & Biochemistry. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and was a member of Alpha Sigma Nu. Akshar earned his M.D. from The University
of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he was a Physician Healer Scholar. After completing medical school and a preliminary internship, Akshar focused on orthopaedics during his research fellowship at Tulane University. When not focused on his studies, he likes playing sports, photography, traveling and movies.
Dr. Andre Perez-Chaumont is a New Orleans native and Jesuit High School graduate. He completed his undergraduate studies at LSU, where he earned his B.S. in Biological Sciences in 2018. Andre earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in 2022. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, visiting local restaurants, and athletics.
Dr. Tara Reza is also a New Orleans native and Isidore Newman high school graduate. Tara earned her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from University of Southern California and continued for her M.P.H. focused on Global Health Leadership. She then earned her M.D. from Tulane University School of Medicine. When not focused on her studies, she enjoys roller skating, skiing, tennis, volleyball, and music. You might also find her cheering on the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Dr. Austin Ross grew up in Madison, Georgia and attended Morgan County High School. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2017, where he played running back for the football team. In May 2022, Austin earned his M.D. from Tulane University School of Medicine alongside his twin brother Bailey Ross, who is completing residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Emory University. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys golf, music, and spending time with his family. On Saturdays in the Fall, you might find him behind a grill cheering on the Fighting Irish.
