Failed Back Surgery (FBS)
A Special Message for Patients in the SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA region
It’s your BACK – not like buying some new clothes or even a new car – You need to get this right. We’re all striving for this to be once-a-lifetime. We understand that after your previous spine surgery, you expected your back or neck problem to be resolved. But, that didn’t happen. You’ve had significant pain for a while and the goal now is to get the best outcome to get back doing as many of the things you love as possible. There are fine physicians in the Lafayette, Morgan City, Thibodaux, and Houma areas, but are there any as highly specialized in Failed Back Surgery as Dr. Mathew Cyriac from the Tulane University School of Medicine? Seeing Dr. Cyriac and having him complete another back surgery will most likely require 5-6 trips to New Orleans and back. We know that’s a big ask. But it seems like a small price when it’s YOUR back.
Dr. Mathew Cyriac is our Chief of Adult Spine. After the normal 5 years of training after medical school as an Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Cyriac added a year of specialized Spine surgical training at the prestigious Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Cyriac is an expert in extreme lateral interbody fusion (XLIF) which is a minimally invasive procedure performed through the side of the body to treat spinal disorders and reduce long-term back or leg pain. Dr. Cyriac is willing to tackle some of the most complex spine problems.
Getting started down this road is easy! You can call now or request an appointment online. You’re only committing to one trip to see him, with no strings attached. You’ll get acquainted with Dr. Cyriac and more importantly, he’ll examine your back to see if he agrees that it’s time for a revision surgery. Together, you’ll map out the plan ahead. He’ll talk about timelines and realistic expectations. You’ll be in the driver’s seat, because IT’S YOUR BACK!
